REFLECTION FOR WEEK 13

In the Writing for Multimedia and Web class, I watched my friends’ presentations and I also presented the digital storytelling video during this week’s class.  I t was interesting as I had the privilege to watch many wonderful videos which is attention catching. For example, there were various types of videos which were presented. The first presentation was about friendship and how valuable it is. This interesting video was presented by Calvin and his group members, who consist of Jayson, Lim Sue Chin and also Nur Wafa. This video was about the bond of friendship between these four friends who does things together and was never apart from each other. Unfortunately tragedy strikes when one of these close friends, Calvin was diagnosed with an illness and could not spend time with his friends and this caused his friends to ignore him as they were mistakenly thinking that he is now spending most of his time with another friend. Therefore, all of them refused to talk to him when he spoke to them. The story proceeds with the part where CalCal which was acted by Calvin fainted and soon passed away at the hospital. His death caused all of his friends to be heartbroken and they realized that they were wrong all along about Calvin as they misunderstood him thinking that he had found a new friend. They came to know about a list of things that CalCal could not manage to do and wanted them to accomplice it for him instead. Hence, they were shocked as the list consists of weird things such as farting and recording it but eventually they completed the whole list for the sake of friendship. This wonderful video which carried the theme of friendship was done in an animation form.

  Secondly, my group and I presented as the second presenter. We presented our video at the front of the class. Our video was about a girl who always lazed around and had no intention of improvising her grades which kept falling down. The fact that she was a repeat student did not even bother her at all. She began to change her mindset when one day, she was scolded by her mother because her mother was worried that she might not have a chance to survive in this world with her current qualifications. Therefore, this leads her to acquire assistance from her friend to help her in her studies. She began working hard in order to obtain excellent results. In the end, her hard work paid off as she managed to score good results and got herself her in the dean’s list. Our video shows that no one in the world should ever give up no matter what obstacles may come in their way. We acted in our video. We wanted to show real expressions and make our audience to have various feelings and different type of emotions. This made us to decide that we should act out in our video in order for our audience to analyze the movie and storyline better.

   Besides that, I enjoyed the third presentation which also presented about the bond of friendship. Although they had the same theme as the first group, they managed to present their video in a different and unique way. This is because in their video, they had many flashbacks and they were able to make it seem real. I felt sad emotions flooding my feelings when I watched the part when they showed about the happy moments they had together before one of the friends passed away due to illness. These presenters also inserted the elements of comedy in their video. For instance, there was a scene when the friends splashed their friend with water as their friend wanted to go to water world. This video showed us the real meaning of friendship and also the impact which it leaves us when we lose someone dear to us.

   I learned many different values throughout all of the presentations. All of these videos had so much of things to share with us as we will be able to know many important things which we have ignored so long. For instance, I managed to know that hard work brings us many benefits in life. I also was able to learn that friendship should always be valued.
