On the tenth week for this course, our
lecturer briefed us about our homepage again. We showed our lecturer our
homepage. We wanted to be sure about the details that need to be in our pair
homepage. My pair and me went through our homepage thoroughly as we wanted to
do our best in designing our homepage. The homepage which we created was about
cakes. We advertised cakes for our homepage. In order to give a good and clear
picture of our bakery, we adjusted and make the advertisement to be interesting
and we made all the information precise. We mix and match our homepage
background colour in order to make it seem more interesting and to attract the
customer’s attention.
Our bakery sells all types of cakes ranging from different colours and
different purposes. We have made it easy for the customer to know more about
the types of cakes that we make by putting the pictures of the cakes and also
by stating down the list of cakes that we make. To enhance the customer’s
information regarding our bakery, we even provided contact information. With
this, our customers will clearly see what types of cake that we sell and what
makes it different from other bakery. In addition, we state our information
accurately as this will increase our customer’s trust towards our bakery. Leo
Burnett who was an executive and founder of the Leo Burnett Company Inc. has
once said that “Good advertising does not just circulate information. It
penetrates the public mind with desires and belief”.
Besides that, we also listened to lecture in class. The topic of our
lecture was Writing for the Web. We learned about the best practices for
writing for the web. I now know that we shoud always be positive in our
statements. We also should not add to many information at our sentences. On the
other hand, I also learned to use a conversational style in my writing. I
realized that we should not make our sentences complicated by making the
sentence unnecessarily hard to understand by beating around the bush. Simple
sentences can make the readers understand way better than complicated sentences
which will affect their understanding.
Paragraphs and sentences should always be kept
short. There should also be titles and subtitles to make it seem neat and to
make it precise. Moreover, vague titles such as “Holy Cow!” should not be used
in writing. The titles should be written in a better way to show its
preciseness. Therefore, vague titles should never be used at all. We should
also set the right terms in our writing such as workplace term.
