Narrative essay-My experience of getting lost at a toy shop

I turned around and realized that I am all alone by myself. Dark black clouds started clouding my head and my mind soon turned bank. Deep fear created several sweat drops and soon my face was wet with sweat. “Venaa, come now! Let’s go home!”, my mother’s words kept on ringing in my ears. I knew that I am actually lost all alone at the toy shop. I was surrounded with strangers. Fear even began clouding my sense of sight. I felt as if I am all alone at a big ocean all by myself.

Suddenly, I began to think that I have to do something to escape this dark and scarring situation. Therefore, I started walking to the exit of the shop. I was so desperate to find my parents. While walking to the exit, I saw several foreign customers walking in the shop. They glanced at me wondering what a little girl is doing at a shop all alone. As I walked past them, someone suddenly called me from behind. “Little girl, are you lost? Where is mom and dad?” I turned back and saw a foreign lady looking at me and smiling. She had long blonde hair. She seemed friendly and I was about to answer her when I suddenly remember my dad’s advice long ago. “Remember to never talk to strangers”.

Hence, I just nodded and told that I am lost. I did not want to elaborate anything further as I did not know the lady. Thus, I should not judge a book by its cover. The lady who talked to me smiled and told the person next to her that I was a brave girl as I did not cry. The Asian woman next to her agreed and said that I was a brave girl indeed. They then ask me my dad’s or mom’s hand phone number in order to contact them.

I thought twice before giving them my parent’s number as I did not know them well. I hesitated for quite a while. After thinking again, I realized that it is the only way to find my parents. Therefore, I made a decision to give them my parents contact number. I was fighting the thought to scream and run away from that place because I really started to get goose bumps all over my body. I tried swallowing the urge to scream at the top of my lungs.

All of the sudden like a lighting strike, before I could fathom anything, the figure of my dad pop up in front of me. My dad was smiling and he told the people in front of me that he is my dad and he had come to take me. Being the innocent little girl, I was so happy that tears of joy ran through my cheeks. I was really glad to find my dad. Only after that that I came to know that my dad was watching me all along from a nearby shop! He wanted to test me and look at my reaction and the result was he was amazed to find me controlling my nerves and not bursting out crying when I first realized I was lost. After that, my family and I went back home together.
